Configuring shipping methods

To create and/or edit a set of shipping methods available:

  1. Log on to the Business Center as a merchant administrator.
  2. Click the Shop > Shipping Methods link in the navigator.
  3. Click Create New.
  4. On the Shipping Method Details page, configure the selected shipping method as follows:
    Field Description
    Shipping Method Enter a name that will be easily recognizable to users of the Business Center in the Shipping Method field; this name never appears in the Customer Center.
    Shipping Name Enter a name in the Shipping Name field. This name appears in the Customer Center to identify the method.
    Description Enter any text you like into the Description field. This text is internal to the Business Center and is for your reference only. Typically, you use it to help distinguish between shipping methods that have identical names, but are designed to serve different segments.
    URL Specify the address of the shipping company’s website (if it has one).
  5. Click Create.

    The page reloads with a larger form that shows your settings so far, but which also includes additional fields for defining shipping rate and user segment.

    Shipping rates

    The price charged for using a particular shipping method is based on the weight class of the entire order. Each class is defined by its maximum weight; the price charged is that of the lightest weight class that accommodates the entire order. Use the controls under Add New Shipping Rate to establish the set of weight classes; you can define any number of classes. Enter prices using the currency that is selected as primary currency for the merchant’s company, regardless of the countries the shipping method is intended to serve (it will be calculated for other currencies as required). The prices defined here must not include tax; tax will be added later as it applies to shipping fees for the country of destination.

    User segments Use the controls under Add New User Segment to establish a group of user segments that can use the shipping method. If no segments are assigned, then the shipping method is not listed in the Customer Center.
  6. Click Save to submit your new settings.
    Note: Use the search form to find the shipping method you wish to edit. The form for editing a shipping method is identical to the one for creating a new shipping method, except that you are not able to change the code for the method.
