Currency types

There are two basic types of currencies:

  • Explicit currencies – These are the primary currencies that you use to establish prices. For each explicit currency, you must specify an absolute price for all items in the catalog (though some types of charges, such as delivery fees, are still defined only using the merchant’s preferred currency and must be computed even for currencies in which item prices are set explicitly).

  • Computed currencies – These are secondary currencies for which prices are computed based on a specified exchange rate to one of the explicit currencies. Frequent updating of exchange rates may be necessary if you use computed currencies.
