Overview on roles, segments, and feature elements

Infor e-Commerce provides several ways for merchants to control a set of features, offers, items, and discounts that apply to each of their customers. These include:

  • Feature elements, which allow specific features to be enabled or disabled based on the role(s) assigned to the current user.

  • Role types, which define where a role is used.

  • User roles, each of which has access to a subset of feature elements; each user is then assigned one or more user roles to control the features available.

  • User segments, which group customers into related segments based on selected properties of each customer (for example, country, and company). These enable merchants to target items, offers, prices and other features.

  • Item assortments, which group items either individually or by category. Merchants can choose which assortments are available to each segment.

Most of these features are intended to support the business model of the merchant running Infor e-Commerce.
