Adding a currency

To add or edit a currency:

  1. Log on to the Business Center as a merchant administrator.
  2. Click the Shop > Currencies link in the navigator.

    A list of defined currencies (if any) is displayed.

  3. Click Create New.
  4. On the Currency Details page, enter all details as required.

    See the table below for a complete description of each setting.

  5. Click Save to submit your new settings.
    Note: To edit a currency, use the search form to find and select the currency you want to edit. The form for editing a currency is identical to the one for creating a new currency, except that you are not able to change the code for existing currencies.
    Field Description
    Currency Code

    A short three-letter code for the currency.

    The code must be unique for all currencies in your application. Once you have established a code, the same code is used throughout the application to refer to the currency you are creating.

    Decimals The number of decimals used to define fractions of the currency. For most currencies, this will be 2, which means that the currency is divided into 100 parts (such as U.S. dollars and cents).
    Master Currency For computed currencies, this is the name of the currency against which the exchange rate is computed. Even for explicit currencies, you must define this because some types of fees (such as delivery fees) are defined only using the merchant’s preferred currency and must be computed even for currencies in which item prices are set explicitly.
    Exchange Rate

    For computed currencies, enter the amount of the value of 1 unit of the specified master currency when converted to the current currency.

    For example, a British pound, which is worth more than one Euro, may have the master currency set to Euro and an exchange rate of 0.74.

    As explained in the master-currency setting above, you must maintain exchange rates for both explicit and calculated currencies.

    Explicit

    Yes = explicit currencies

    No = computed currencies.

    See Currency types for details about these two types.

    Descriptions The name of the currency in each of the languages supported by your application.
