Calculate tax
The tax due on each item is calculated according to the tax group to which the item belongs and the country to which the order is shipped. The merchant can establish several tax groups in each country, with a minimum of one per country. For countries having more than one tax group, the merchant must manually assign the tax group for each item for which the default tax group does not apply.
Because tax calculations are based on the order destination (ship-to country), Infor e-Commerce might need to make an assumption as to where the order is likely to be shipped. This allows tax charges to be shown on the order form as a user is shopping, but might result in a recalculation of all taxes after the user identifies the order destination. Therefore, the following assumptions are made:
-
If the user has not yet specified a shipping address, then the default shipping address is used.
-
If no default shipping address is available for a customer, the billing address is used.
Tax is not calculated for order lines if the user is not taxable. A user might not be charged tax in two situations:
-
The merchant has explicitly configured the customer company or the user (for example, a religious organization) as non-taxable.
-
The merchant has explicitly configured the user as non-taxable.
-
The user has a user role that is configured as non-taxable.
