Optional attributes (The "none" option)
Sometimes, attributes for a configurable item will be optional. For these, the customer must be able to either choose a specific sub-item, or select "none" to receive the item without an option in that category. In Infor e-Commerce, this option is implemented as an item with a type of "None", which you can add to any sub-item category that requires it. Typically, your database will include only one "none" item, but you can have more.
In a computer-system, for example, the system will always include a hard disk, so this category will not include the "none" item. However, a wireless-networking card may be available as an add-on, so this category must include at least one appropriate item, plus the "none" item.
To create the "None" item, use the controls. Be sure to set the Item Type to "None" in the first step because you cannot change an item to this type.
To add the "none" option to any existing sub-item category, edit the "none" item and add the appropriate category to the list in the Categories area. The "none" item will never be listed when browsing the catalog in the Customer Center.
