Removing a language

If you do not wish to use one or more of default languages, you can either disable them or remove them completely. However, do not delete all of the default languages before you have entered all of the translations for your new language—otherwise you will have no source text from which to translate.

There are two ways to remove a language:

  • Temporary – Log on to the Business Center and click the Application Setup:Languages link in the navigator. This will show a list of current languages. Click the language that you want to remove, and then set the Visible list to No. This will not remove the language from your database, but will ensure that it is never shown in the language-selection menu in your application.

  • Permanent – Log on to the Business Center and click the Application Setup:Languages link in the navigator. This will show a list of current languages. Click the "X" icon for the target language in the language list.

Note: The temporary method described above will only remove the language from the languageselection list. If an old customer who used the now-invisible language in the profile returns to your application, he or she will still see all text in the supposedly "invisible" language after logging in (unless you manually edit the user’s profile). The intended use of the "invisible" language setting is to enable you to add a new language and then take the time required to enter all translations before any customers can select it.
