Importing data models

Data models contain document type definitions. They can be created manually but importing them is a convenient way of making sure that new type of definitions are created correctly. These document type definitions are used by the Link Manager when creating links to documents.

To import a data model, use the IBM DB2 Content Manager Administration Client.

  1. Run the IBM DB2 Content Manager Administration Client.
  2. Click Tools > Import XML.
  3. In the Import XML Options dialog, click Browse next to the Data model file field. Locate the data model file (with extension name XSD).
Note: If you have accepted the defaults during Infor e-Commerce installation, you can find the XSD file in C:\Program Files\Infor\e-Commerce 14.X\IDM Data Model.

Keep the other settings in this dialog.

  4. Click Import.
  5. After the import process, the Import Preprocessor Results dialog appears, showing possible definition conflicts (depending on what definitions already exist in your IDM installation). The icons indicating conflicts are presented below the dialog. You can either accept a merged conflict or cancel the import of the item that caused the conflict.

To cancel a merged conflict, right-click on an object that caused conflict and select Do Not Import. The icon of the object should change.

To accept a merged conflict, right-click on the object and select View Details. Click Accept. The icon for the object should change.

  6. Once all the conflicts are resolved, click Continue.
  7. In the Confirm Import Selection dialog, click Import.
  8. Click OK when the import process succeeds. A detailed log file is generated if the import fails.
  9. To view the imported data model, you may need to refresh the client. Click View > Refresh.
  10. In the navigation tree at the left, expand Data Modeling and click Item Types. You should see the imported data objects at the right.

Document types are cached at the IDM server. If you already have an IDM server running, you will need to refresh the IDM document type cache to see and work with the new data model.
