Sales Tax and VAT

If Sales Tax is used by the company, you can calculate an estimate. In the EQM mashup, right-click and select Related > Calculate Sales Tax or press Ctrl+38.

After the Sales Tax is calculated, you can display the estimated tax values. In the EQM mashup or the Equipment Quotation Detail window, right-click and select Related > Display Sales Tax or press Ctrl+41.

To calculate a Sales Tax or VAT estimate when creating a quotation in EQM, select the Calc VAT/Tax parameter in 'Quotation Type. Open' (QUS020).

If you select Calc VAT/Tax, you cannot edit the fields VAT and Sales tax in 'Quotation. Open Lines' (QUS101). These fields are set automatically when the line is created using the same simulation logic that is used to calculate VAT and Sales Tax on a customer order in 'Customer Order. Simulate Totals' (OIS110). The VAT or Sales Tax is also updated automatically if quotation prices are adjusted. Since tax values are influenced by many factors, including factors outside of the quote, you can use related options 'Calculate VAT' or 'Calculate Sales Tax' in 'Quotation. Open' (QUS100) and (QUS101) to trigger a recalculation of VAT or Sales tax.

The VAT and Sales Tax calculation for main lines in (QUS101) is based on the sales price after promotions. The VAT and Sales Tax amount for the main line in (QUS101) also includes VAT or Sales Tax from the connected sublines.

The total VAT or Sales Tax for the quote is displayed in the field 'Tax' on the F panel in (QUS100). The total VAT and Sales Tax amount includes the VAT or Sales Tax for header charges and quotation lines.

Note: This is only a simulation of VAT and Sales Tax, and the amount is an estimate for information purposes.

Base Tax Rate Retrieval

The default VAT code is retrieved from 'Item. Connect Warehouse' (MMS002) for VAT based divisions.

The default Sales Tax code is retrieved from 'Item. Open' (MMS001) for Sales Tax based divisions.

The delivery terms of the quotation header in (QUS100) are used to determine the taxation point.

When the taxation point is 1-'Goods Leave Supplier' for VAT based divisions, the warehouse from the quotation line is used to determine the country and state from which to retrieve the VAT rate in 'VAT Rate. Open' (CRS031). For sales tax based divisions, the geographical code is used to retrieve the tax rate in 'Geographic Code. Enter Tax Rate' (CRS138) and 'Geographic Code. Enter Exemptions' (CRS139).

When the tax point is 3-'Goods Final Address' and you have specified a delivery address id for the quote, this is used to retrieve the country, state or geographical code through 'Customer. Connect Addresses' (OIS002). Otherwise, the delivery address on the quote header is used in combination with the geographical code of the customer in 'Customer. Open' (CRS610).

VAT and Sales Tax for Header Charges

A VAT code or Sales Tax code is retrieved from the charge id in 'CO Charge. Open' (OIS030) when the header charge is added to the quote in 'Quotation Header. Connect Charges' (QUS123). You can update to another VAT code or Sales Tax code manually if needed.

VAT and Sales Tax for Miscellaneous Costs

A VAT code or Sales Tax code is retrieved to 'Quotation. Open Miscellaneous Cost' (QUS108) from the charge id in 'Order Line Charge. Open' (CRS275) when the miscellaneous cost is added to the quotation line in (QUS101). You can update to another VAT code or Sales Tax code manually if needed.

If the (QUS108) service record is item number based, the default VAT code is retrieved from (MMS002) and the default Sales Tax code is retrieved from (MMS001) instead.

Limitations

Data such as Sales Tax codes and VAT codes and its rates are cached when creating a quote. If you make changes that affect taxation outside of the quote, you must close QUS programs before these changes take effect on the quote. Use related options 'Calculate VAT' or 'Calculate Sales Tax' to refresh the tax values of the quote.

Sales Tax and VAT values on sublines are included in the mainline totals in (QUS101), but Sales Tax values in 'Quotation. Sales Tax' (QUS353) display only mainline calculations due to mixed tax rates.
