Equipment sales prices

This section provides basic information on how the sales price and the cost price of the equipment are retrieved.

The setup of sales prices for equipment depends on whether the equipment is priced per its components or as a lump sum for the complete configuration. For used equipment, a lump sum can typically be applied. For new equipment sales, the sales prices can be related to the specific configuration choices, that is, the components.

To drive pricing per equipment component, use the kit functionality. The equipment is the kit header and the selected components are the kit lines. Sales prices, including discounts, are retrieved through the kit lines and summed up through the kit header. Sales prices can also be retrieved through the kit header, but the driving of pricing through markups for multiple attribute values is not supported. Therefore, we recommend that you define the kit pricing for the kit lines. The kit pricing functionality is controlled by the Pricing method parameter for kit items in the G panel in 'Product Structure. Open' (PDS001).

To define a lump price for individual equipment, you can use pricing based on serial numbers. In 'Serial Number Based Pricing. Open' (MMS250), you can define and maintain pricing information based on serial numbers. For used equipment sales, if these conditions are met, then kit information is not generated in 'Customer Order. Open' (OIS100):

  • A serial number exists in the order transaction.
  • A sales price is defined in (MMS250).

The sales price is retrieved for the combination of the serial number and items of the equipment.

The sales price is retrieved by local options of equipment through the service price list in 'Service. enter Prices' (MOS306).

We recommend that you define the purchase prices of equipment in 'Purchase Agreement. Open' (PPS100). Using the kit functionality, you can drive purchase pricing. In this case, purchase prices are defined for components, that is, kit lines. Then, purchase prices are summed up to the equipment, that is, the kit header.

For an equipment dealer, the sales price for new equipment sales may be based on information retrieved through a machine price interface. Dynamic pricing supports sales price calculation based on the recommended list price, with regards to the attribute. Therefore, you can set up the sales prices through the price origin 'C - dynamic pricing'.

In this case, only the purchase agreement is updated by the equipment price interface, with the recommended list price as the purchase gross price. In purchase agreements, purchase prices are defined per attribute model and attachment indicator. These objects are used when the purchase price is retrieved as the calculation basis for the sales price of the kit lines. The attribute model that is used is the attribute model on the equipment, that is, the kit header item.

For components, that is, kit lines, you can use customer price lists instead of dynamic pricing. In this case, the price lists are set up per attribute model.
