Managing promotion records

Promotions records are used to create a quotation line of type 7. Promotions must normally be added after the equipment has been configured.

If the equipment is reconfigured, then you must adjust or recreate the promotion.

  1. On the Item tab, select the Promotion subtab and click the New promotion button. Alternatively, on the All tab, right-click the product and select Related > Add Promotion.
  2. Select a promotion from the list, then, to update the display, click Refresh.
  3. To manually update the sequence number, the campaign identification, and the actual discount amount, double-click the promotion record.
    If you specify an actual discount that is different from the original discount and the Claimable check box is selected, then the profit margin on the promotion line is the difference between the original discount and the actual discount. The reason is that you must be able to reclaim back the original amount.

    If the Claimable check box is cleared, then the whole promotion becomes a cost, thereby influencing the margin. The original discount amount and percentage come from the basic information setup. The actual discount amount is manually specified in this process.

  4. To delete a promotion from the quotation, right-click a record and select Delete.
