Associating basic information with equipment and attributes

Caution:
If you do not configure correctly the basic information associated with the equipment and its attributes, then the quotation process does not operate as designed. This information includes the cost and pricing information of attributes.

To associate basic information with the equipment and its attributes, complete these steps:

  1. In 'Attribute Model. Open' (ATS050), define the attribute model.
This attribute model is linked to the equipment in 'Item. Open' (MMS001).
  2. In 'Attribute Model. Connect Attributes' (ATS051), link the attributes, such as the engine size or the gearbox type.

The grouping of attributes for display in the Configurator feature is based on the display group that is associated with Configurator in (ATS051).

To display option buttons or drop-down lists in the Configurator feature, you must display the options control. To set a display group, use 'Display Group. Open' (ATS014).

  3. In 'Attribute. Open' (ATS010), define the attributes.
If the attribute value should affect the price and cost for the configured equipment, we recommend that you set attribute values as Item. In this case, for each attribute, select the Item attribute check box.
We also recommend that you do not select the Multiple attribute values check box. Attribute dependency cannot be used if this check box is selected.
The Allow blank check box is used to specify whether an attribute is mandatory or optional.
  4. In 'Attribute Matrix. enter Values' (ATS021), define the value for each attribute.
For example, for a fuel tank, the attribute values may be the item number for ‘standard’, ‘fast-fill’, etc.
Note: The first object control field in 'Generic Object Control Table. Open' (CMS017) for the attribute matrix must always be set to ADATMO - Attribute Model.
  5. To configure dependencies between attributes, open 'Attribute-Dependent Objects. Open' (ATS040) and navigate to 'Attribute-Dependent ID. Open' (ATS041). In (ATS041), define which attributes depend on each other, for example, engine and gearbox attributes.
After this step, you can define the actual values in 'Attribute-Dependent Values. Open' (ATS042).
  6. In 'Item. Connect Alias Number' (MMS025), specify the default attribute values.
Using the alias number, you can directly retrieve a preconfigured equipment.
