Importing file by Year

When you import a file by using the Year period mapping, you can select a year from in the Year field. If your file contains a Year column, the import uses that year. Otherwise, the import uses the year from the field.

Before importing, verify that these conditions are met:

  • The file must contain the Period column named Period.
  • If the file contains the Year column, the column name must be Year.
  • The Year must be in the YYYY format.
  • The Period must be consistent with the Period Type.
Note: Dataset Properties defines the Period Type. To check the Period Type, select Dataset > Properties > [dataset] > Data Types > Formats > Period Types.

The Period Type determines the valid period values for your import file:

    • Months: 1–12
    • Weeks: 1–52
    • Quarters: 1–4

For examples of a valid CSV file for this type of period mapping, see examples 1, 3, 4, and 5 in Importing Files.
