Exporting Consolidated Demand Plan Proposal

Outcome

The scenarios with changes for the consolidated Sales Forecast Proposal are confirmed in M3 DMP. the Dataset in M3 BE contains the Updated Sales Budget/Sales Forecast, including exported phantoms.

The Updated Sales Budge/Sales Forecast in M3 BE can be transferred to forecasts per item in the Forecasting module or the Master Demand Schedule.

When a Dataset is exported, the values in the corresponding Sales Budget Version in the M3 BE Dataset is updated with any confirmed changes and any exported phantoms.

Before Starting

A consolidated Demand Plan Proposal must be available. To achieve this, the processes explained in Performing Distributed Forecasting and Reaching Collaborative Consensus are performed. See Creating Sales Forecast Proposal and Checking Capacity Availability.

The list of activities to be performed on each Dataset is described in the following:

Activity Description:

1. Mark phantoms for export

   In this activity, the administrator decides which phantoms should be exported to M3 BE to be part of the Updated Sales Budget. This is done in the Phantom Manager. When a Dataset is exported to M3 BE, the chosen phantoms are exported along with the rest of the Dataset.

   Note: When the Updated Sales Budget/Sales Forecast is transferred to item forecasts in M3 BE using Transferring Updated Sales Budget/Sales Forecast, the keyset of the exported phantoms must match known entities in M3 BE for the transfer to succeed. See About Phantoms.
2. Confirm consolidated Sales Forecast Proposal

   In this activity, the scenarios that are part of the consolidated Sales Forecast Proposal are confirmed in the Changes list. The effect is that the budget values in the basic data layers are overwritten with the changed values. It is necessary to confirm the scenarios in the Sales Forecast Proposal for them to be exported to M3 BE, since only the basic data layer for each Dataset is exported. See Information Structure.

3. Export M3 DMP Datasets

   In this activity, the consolidated Sales Forecast Proposal is exported to the corresponding M3 BE Dataset. This is done in the Select Dataset to export dialogue.

   The effect of exporting a M3 DMP Dataset is that the values in the original Sales Budget Version created in M3 BE are replaced with the changed values from the basic data layer (confirmed changes) in the M3 DMP Dataset. Also, new records (exported phantoms or new time periods) are added to the corresponding Dataset. When the export is completed the M3 BE Dataset includes an Updated Sales Budget/Sales Forecast.
