Budgets

Budgets are used by some customers as business plans for comparing against actual forecast plan. Logically, these budgets should not be changeable and should not be exported from M3 DMP. M3 BE also has a feature of Budget Status. The following table describes the a few of the Budget status present in M3 BE.

Budget Status	Meaning
10	Inactive (No records can be created)
20	Active (Records can be created and updated)
90	Closed ( No updates are allowed).

 

The Budget feature of M3 DMP supports the M3 BE Budget Status. It also controls the locking and exporting of budget locally in M3 DMP. This feature is available only to administrators. The administrator controls the settings that apply to all users. There are two settings that can be assigned to a budget in M3 DMP:

1. Locked - Locked is a M3 DMP feature to make it possible to lock a budget. The budget details of a locked budget is displayed as hatched in the pivot sheet . The user cannot work on a locked budget. In M3 DMP a budget is locked if one of the following conditions is true:
   • Budget Status is <> 20 and the option Consider Budgets Status is "True".
   • The option Locked is "True".

1. Not Exported - Not Exported means that the  changes made in the budgets would not be exported from M3 DMP. However, this feature does not prevent the user from making changes in a budget. In M3 DMP a budget will be excluded from being exported if one of the following conditions is true:
   • The option Not Exported is "True".
   • Budget Status is <> 20 and the option Consider Budgets Status is "True".

The following steps explain how to use the Budget feature of M3 DMP:

1. Select Menu > Data > Budgets. The Budgets window is displayed in the workbench.

   The Budgets comprises of several columns, they are listed as follows:

   Column Name	Description
   Company	Displays the company name.
   BudVsn	Displays the available budget versions in the Dataset.
   Name	Displays the budget version name.
   Dataset	Displays the Dataset name.
   Status	Displays the budget status.
   Locked	Check this option to lock the budget.
   Not Exported	Check this option to prevent a budget from being exported.
   Currency	Displays the currency in a particular budget.

2. Select Consider Budget Status check box. It is mandatory to check this option when the budget Status is <>20.
3. Click OK to close the dialog.
4. Load the pivot sheet to see the changes.
