Multiple Dataset Favorite View
The multiple dataset favorite view functionality allows you to consolidate several datasets into one view in order to see values and changes across dataset boundaries. The views structure is determined by the master dataset.
A master dataset is the governing dataset in a multiple dataset favorite view scenario. The measures defined in the master dataset control whatever is displayed in the favorite view. Only definitions from this dataset determine what definitions are available for a favorite view.
There are two conditions that need to be fulfilled to work with master datasets:
- The period types of the datasets forming a multiple dataset must be identical
- At least one key in the datasets must match, it must be aggregated to the same keys
Once the master dataset is selected, you can consolidate additional datasets with the master dataset in multiple dataset favorite view. The keys matching after aggregation define which datasets you can consolidate. For example, time filter, included measures, and so on.
The condition that a dataset is available to be included in a multiple dataset favorite view is now independent from the sequence of keys in the Dataset compared to the master dataset. The requirements for multiple dataset favorite views regarding the keys in the included datasets are:
- There are some common keys in the datasets
- Only common keys are selected at the aggregation level
A potential scenario for using multiple dataset favorite view is when a customer creates a performance report based on a full overview of all data in the company, and thus need to consolidate several datasets around specific keys.
The ability to consolidate datasets depends on the aggregation level.
This table displays an example to demonstrate this ability:
Master Dataset | Master Dataset Aggregation Level | Available Datasets Aggregation Level |
---|---|---|
K1, K2 | K2 | K2 |
