Export File

The Export File feature of the file interface is used to export data for inspection and sharing of data to other processes. You can use the export of data for business processes such as Sales and Operations Planning, Exception handling, Promotional Management, and Planning. You can also use this feature in budgeting for Shop, Sales, Season, Range, and Assortment to Purchase and Inventory Budgeting.

Export File supports Unicode UTF-8 when you generate CSV files with Central European character sets.

Export File features three basic types of export option:

  • Data Set
  • Favorite View
  • Scoreboard

Dataset

This option is an export operation that resamples the export operations from M3 BE as well as the SQL Database Interface. The data set export is commonly used for integrating DMP with other ERP systems or data mediators, such as Infor ION, or for synchronizing DMP data to data warehouses for Olap operations.

Favorite View

This option makes it easier to export part of a dataset because of the Favorite Views filtering capabilities. This also allows the export of value from Calculated Measures. The option is commonly used for extracting data for external review.

Export File can export data from Favorite View, including Calculated Measures, AUMs, Extra Keys, and PLM Key State information.

Exporting from Favorite Views has some additional options besides a CSV file format. These include creating a mini-website, XML data, and Excel XLS using a template.

You can find the templates under the DMP client program sub folder \Templates.

  • ExportTemplate.html is used for the Website export
  • ExportTemplate_H.xls is used when export to Excel and Periods is Horizontal
  • ExportTemplate_V.xls is used when export to Excel and Periods is Vertical.

By changing the templates, you can alter the fonts, colors, and other appearance of the finished output.

Scoreboard

You can export the output from Scoreboard to Excel or website. For Excel, you can use a standard template Excel_Template_V.xls to create the output. You can filter the data to show only one of the exported items. You can apply a data filter as normal by selecting the first line and click Filter in the Excel data toolbar. You can also modify the template to have a new header text, color, logo, and so on.

For exporting to a website (HTML), you can edit the template for a different visual style.
