Controlling a Dataset record using Key State

These steps explain the process of the lifetime of a Dataset record using Key State:
  1. On the Pivot sheet, select the record(s) that you want to change the key states.
  2. Mark the records to change the key states using the Change Key State feature.
  3. Specify the changes on the marked records by creating Scenario Parts or Sales Activities.
  4. Export the changes.
  5. Import the same Dataset using the Partial Import option.
  6. Select the Key Values in the Favorite View Properties dialog box of the Dataset.
The Key State drop-down list box displays all the available key states. See About Key State.
  7. Select a key state from the Key State drop-down list to check if the key state of a marked record has changed after partial import.

For example, if a record has been marked New before the Partial Import then after the Partial Import, that key state should change to Normal. If you select Normal from the Key State drop-down list and load the Pivot sheet, the record with Normal key state is displayed in the Pivot sheet.

This table explains the change in Key States of records before and after the Partial Import.
