Dataset data

The Dataset data manager enables you to perform these actions:

  • Create key combination in the target dataset (TO) if they exists in the source (FROM dataset)
  • Copy data either by using the exact time period or the offset between the two dataset by using the Time Shift feature
  • Copy keys from budget dataset to another budget dataset even if the period type is different.
  • Copy data types between blank budget (other term, statistics and forecasts) or budget datasets.
  • Automatically aggregate data in the FROM dataset to matching keys and distribute it in the TO dataset

You can create, copy or delete different types of data with or without keeping existing cell values or setting change marks.

Copy function

The copy function is used to copy data from different levels. The lowest level is from data type to data type and the highest is from dataset to dataset.

The Copy function will only copy data to matching budgets/data types, meaning that missing budgets and data types will not be created. However, missing key combinations will be created or inserted and depending on aggregation level, created as normal key combinations or phantoms.

If the data type in the TO dataset is a read only data, the data values are not copied.

Create function

The create function enables the user to create a new dataset, budget or data type. These conditions apply when creating a new dataset data:

  • New dataset is always based on an existing dataset
  • New budget is always based on an existing budget regarding the budgets key contents
  • New data type is always based on an existing data type regarding the data type's data contents

If a key combination does not exist, only the keys shared between FROM and TO datasets are created. The other keys in the TO dataset is defined as empty. In this case, there is no distribution because only one record is made.

Dataset can be generated with:

  • No budgets (no keys and no data)
  • One budget with no data type
  • One budget with one data type or all data types
  • All budgets with no data types
  • All budgets with one data type or all data types

Budgets can be generated with:

  • With no data types (keys but no data)
  • With one data type or all data types

Data Types can only be generated from templates which are data copied from one data type to a new data type.

Delete function

The delete function is used to delete datasets, budgets, and data types. This function deletes all data in the selected level.

In using the delete function, you must consider these conditions:

  • Deleting a dataset will also delete the associated Favorite Views, scoreboards, etc to the dataset.
  • If the last data type in a budget is deleted, the budget is also deleted.
  • If the last budget in a dataset is deleted, a prompt message is displayed confirming to delete the dataset.
