Change data using Basic Calculations

  1. On the Workbench, select the cells that you want to update.
  2. Click Basic Calculations or use the right-click menu.
    Note: If it is the first time you make changes to the view, the Definition Scenario/Scenario Parts dialog box is displayed. Proceed to step 3.

    If no, the Basic Calculations dialog box is displayed. Proceed to step 4.

  3. On the Definition Scenario/Scenario Parts dialog box, specify this information:
    Name
    Specify the name of the Scenario Part.
    Description
    Specify the Scenario Part description.
    Change Category
    Select a change category.
    ToDoList
    Select a ToDoList item to attach.
  4. Click OK.
    The Basic Calculation dialog box is displayed.
  5. This table lists the available actions in Basic Calculation.  
    Field Description
    Operator Set (=), Add (+)
    Amount

    Specify the relevant change value

    Note: To subtract a specific amount from a selection of cell(s) you can directly prefix (-) sign with the value to be subtracted, example: -100.
    Column The default is established by the marked cell but you can select from the list of available columns for the selected period.
    Distribution Method
    • # Apply amount to each detail cell
    • % Apply amount as percent
    • #  Apply amount to each selected cell
    • # Apply amount to each selected cell including empty cells
    • # Distribute amount between selected cells
    Scenario Read-only field that lists the Scenario names
    Scenario Part/Sales Activity Opens the Definition of Scenario/Scenario Part/Sales Activity dialog box.
    Manual Forecast Select this option to perform Manual Forecast on a selection of cells.
    Reset to Calculated Forecast Select this option to reset the forecast method from Manual to Calculated Forecast.
    Break Datatype Link Select this option to prevent cyclic calculations.
  6. Click OK.
    The changed cells are highlighted with a light green background color to separate them from unchanged cells. The cells indirectly affected (aggregated level) are highlighted with a light blue background color.
    Click Undo or Redo to change the results.
    Note: The changes made in the active scenario part are saved when you close the Grid. The changes made at the aggregate level are distributed proportionally to existing cell values in the underlying cells. The changes made in the forecast type are not stored in scenario parts but are confirmed to the data when the Grid is closed. # Apply amount to each selected cell including empty cells is the new calculation method, which enables you to perform calculations on a selection of cells including empty cells.
