Using Distribution Profiles

Distribution profiles can be imported and exported from and to another dataset. You can get the data from files that are maintained in M3 Demand Planner or import data from M3 Business Engine.

You can edit the profile name, description and category that are available in a distribution profile. You can use Category as a filter to display a specific set of distribution profiles. The profiles can then be filtered by typing the part of the profile name in the filter box.

Uplift and down distribution profile

A distribution profile can be used to calculate the redistribution amount that is available in a dataset depending on the values that are defined in a profile.

To redistribute an uplift or down change:

  1. Select a dataset.
  2. On the Administrator's favorite view toolbar, click Distribution Profile Calculation.
  3. Select the data to be redistributed.
  4. Right-click and select Calculate Cells or press Space.

    The Distribution Profile dialog box is displayed.

  5. Verify that the Redistribute button is selected.
  6. Click Normalize or hold the Ctrl key and click on the grid to create the profile.
  7. Click Save.

    The Profile Properties dialog box is displayed.

  8. Specify this information:
    Name
    Specify a name for the distribution profile.
    Category
    Specify a category.
    Description
    Provide a description for the distribution profile.
  9. Optionally, specify a value in the Number of digits after decimal field.
  10. Click OK to close the Profile Properties dialog box.
  11. Click Save and click OK.

Phasing in or phasing out distribution profile

A distribution profile can be used in planning the phase in or phase out of products or items in certain channels. Phasing in and phasing out distribution profile can be used to control an entire collection of data from start to end process.

Import and export Distribution Profiles

You can import and export the distribution profiles to a csv format that can be edited using a text editor tool or Excel.
