Create Phantom with Copied Value

  1. Select Datasets > Phantoms .
The Phantom Manager is displayed in the Workbench.
  2. Organize the column headings in the pivot sheet, so they represent the column structure you want to copy.
  3. Right-click the selected entities and select Create Phantoms Structure to open the Create Phantoms Structure panel.
  4. Select budgets and click OK.
The Create Phantoms Structure pane is displayed with the data populated based on your selection. Status not valid.

In the panel, the new phantoms will be listed and assigned with status "Not Valid". The "Not Valid" status is assigned tentatively because the phantom(s) at this point are empty copies of actual records and therefore must be changed before becoming unique records.

  5. To change the status from "Not Valid" to "New", rename any or all key values.
Select the values to modify and click the ellipsis icon to browse and select the new key values, either select from the list of available key values or specify your own. If you specify your own, it will appear on the list once the change is implemented.
  6. To specify the period if time for the data to be copied, set the Dataset range in the From Time Horizon and in the To Time Horizon drop-down list.
Apart from the preset time range, you can set your own time range (in terms of weeks) with the help of the additional drop-down list.
  7. To specify which data types to copy, use the check boxes in Data Types.
  8. Click Update to implement the change in the phantom's key values.
Note: You need to update the phantom for every change you have made in key values. You might encounter a Budget Version is Not Valid warning, which indicates that the selected phantom is assigned budget: N/A. This is a temporary status and must be changed before the phantom can get a "New" status. If your update fails, the old status is preserved.
  9. Click OK to close the Create Phantoms Structure panel.
Phantoms with "New" status appears in the pivot sheet the next time it is opened. Phantoms with "Not Valid" status causes a warning and can be ignored. Once panel is closed, they disappear.
