About Filters

Filters allow you to sift through your M3 BE Datasets to capture and distribute the records that are relevant for your forecasting effort. The functionality is located in Favorite Views Properties on the Filter sub-sheet.

The filter functionality is based on three dimensions: Time, Key values, and Data types and Units of Measure. By default, a dataset is not filtered. You must activate each dimension to have your data filtered.

  • Time Filter dimension is defined either as time horizon or as time period. Time horizon is either fixed or set to roll over and repeat itself. Time period defines a given period that can be defined to suit a given purpose.
  • Key values represent logical entities relevant for the forecasting effort. For example, this could be country, warehouse, or item number. You can choose to include all defined key values or individual key values in the filter.
  • Alternate Units of Measurement (AUM) enables you to select some or all units of measure unique to a specific Dataset and include them in your filter.

Apart from the above, User Domain filters are also used which help the user to filter the data according to the key values. This helps the user to view only required data in the pivot sheet.

In Favorite Views, it is also possible to group data according to the Key Values. This is another way of filtering data in keys.
