VP Production Workspace

The VP Production Workspace provides high-level, actionable insights into manufacturing efficiency, production costs, output reliability, and labor or machine resource utilization.

This workspace is built using existing data models and measures from M3 Analytics and Birst, leveraging the current platform and standard analytics content.

This list shows the key focus areas of this workspace:

  • Improve production throughput while managing cost per unit.
  • Reduce waste, rework, and scrap to protect margins.
  • Optimize labor and machine utilization across work centers.
  • Increase schedule adherence and minimize unplanned downtime.

This table shows the available widgets and reports in this workspace:

Widget Report Description
Cost & Margin Gross Margin % The Gross profit Margin after product costs.
Actl vs Std Cost Var The difference between actual and standard costs from each cost component in the company currency.
Scrapped Cost The Scrapped Cost value for the current period.
Actual vs Plnd Mach Hrs Var The deviation from planned machine usage.
Efficiency Overview Mach Throughput per Hour The units produced per machine per hour.
Availability Ratio The ratio of actual run time without disturbance against the planned operation run time.
Production Yield The percentage of good units which is manufactured quantity minus the rework quantity divided by the total Manufactured Qty.
OEE Stands for Overall Equipment Effectiveness. The ratio of fully productive time to planned production time, computed as the product of availability ratio, performance ratio, and quality ratio.
Labor & Utilization No. of Rework The number of reworks transactions.
Utilization % – Labor The reported labor hours divided by the labor hours capacity
Overtime Hours The reported labor hours vs planned labor hours
Efficiency % – Labor The percentage of Actual labor hours minus the planned labor hours
Labor Efficiency vs Overtime Impact Labor Efficiency vs Overtime Impact

The Top 5 work centers where additional labor hours are not resulting in increased output. This report highlights inefficiencies and helps to balance workloads.

This report calculates the difference between Reported Labor Hours and Planned Labor Hours.

Scrap & Rework Scrap & Rework The frequency of quality issues measured by rework frequency, and the financial impact they generate through scrap costs. Use this report to identify high-risk areas where process inefficiencies are both persistent and costly.
OEE by Equipment OEE by Equipment The specific causes of machine inactivity that reduce the overall equipment performance, enabling teams to target the most costly and disruptive issues first.

This table shows the information from the M3 Information Monitor Widget that is available in this workspace:

Header Description Program Transaction
Delayed Production Monitors operations that have not yet started, even though the planned start date has already passed. Production delays may cause downstream supply chain issues. PMS100MI SearchOperation
Production Overrun Monitors production orders that have started but remain incomplete past their planned finish date, which may result in supply chain issues. PMS100MI SeacrchMO
Material Shortage Monitors material lines that are not fully allocated by their reservation date, which may cause potential delays in production. PPS200MI SearchMaterial
