Using advanced wild card in text search

Use this procedure to search for texts using wild cards. You can add a wildcard (*) at the beginning, middle, or end of the keyword. This will search only for elements containing your keyword where the wildcard is positioned.

  1. On the Search tab, select Text Search.
  2. In the Keywords field, specify a text to search. Position the asterisk (*) where any character can be used in its place.

    For, example "acc*" can be matched to keywords: accrue, account, accounting, and so on.

  3. Select Advanced search mode.
  4. Select the M3 BE Installation to use.

    A BE Installation is preselected, select from the list to change the default.

  5. Select the entity to use, Program or View Definition.
  6. Click Search.

    In the right pane, the search result tab for the selected entity: number of match is displayed with this information:

    Table heading Description
    Program Name The name of the program.
    Description A brief description of the program.
    Component The component used by this program.
    Location The location of the program.
    File path File path of the program.
  7. Click the More Options link for a case sensitive or program code specific text search.
  8. Toggle the search tab lock for view tab options.
