Enabling Local Caching

Use this procedure to enable local caching.

To enable local caching

  1. Start Eclipse.
  2. Select Window > Preferences. The Preferences window is displayed.
  3. Select the MAK node. The General tab is displayed by default.
  4. In the Location field, type or browse the path for the local cache.
  5. Click Apply then click OK to apply the changes.
  6. In the MAK Navigator tab, right-click a project.
  7. Select Properties. The Properties for the selected project is displayed.
  8. Expand the node for General.
  9. Select the option to Enable use of local BE cache.
  10. Click OK to close the window. A workspace job is started copying and updating the local cache. This process can be time-consuming if the network connection to the M3 BE server is slow. Once it is finished, an automatic build operation is started.
Note:  If you want to disable the cache for a project, its class path will reset to its original state. The local cache files are not removed to make re-enabling caching quicker. If the local cache files need to be updated, for example, when the corresponding files change on the server, the local cache can be cleared in the General tab of MAK Preferences.
