Configuring M3 Adaptation Kit Access Control

Use this procedure to configure MAK Access Control to be able to achieve the following:

  • To restrict access to different entities to only certified MAK users. Each entity is controlled by the permissions set and configured by the administrator.

  • To allow users to enable Extended Access Mode. For more information, see M3 Adaptation Kit User Guide.

Before you start:Before you can configure access controls, you must have a valid MAK License Key.

  1. Start Eclipse.
  2. Select Window > Preferences. The Preferences window is displayed.
  3. Select and expand the view of MAK node. The General tab is displayed by default.
  4. Click Access Control tab.
  5. Specify this information:
    MAK License key

    Type the MAK license key for the client machine where MAK is installed.

  6. Click Unlock to open the Setup License Expiration window and enable the remaining Access control settings.
  7. Set the notification schedule for MAK license expiration.
    Note: The suggested eight–month validity of a MAK license is based on the nine–month period starting from the date the license was created. MAK does not keep track of this schedule. Only the administrator who requested the MAK key keeps track of the license validity period.

  8. Click OK to finalize the setting and to go back to the Preferences window.
  9. Select Access control password to enable the password settings feature.

    When Access control password is selected, Extended Access will be shown in the list of available modes.

    Note: If Access control password is not selected and the changes are applied and saved, all access control settings will revert to the default access mode and no license key settings will be saved.
  10. Specify this information to enable and access the Extended Access mode.
    Password

    Type a password.

    Confirm

    Retype the same password for confirmation.

  11. Select the entities to add under access control.
  12. Click Apply.
  13. Click OK to apply the changes.
  14. Close the window and exit Eclipse.
