Adding or editing an external system configuration

The same dialog is used for editing and adding a new external system.

  1. Open the External Systems Management UI (see above).
  2. Click Configure external systems.
  3. Click Add system.
  4. Specify a name for the configuration. The name is only valid within the same grid and is only used to identify the external system when configuring application mappings and external credentials.
  5. Specify a description of the system. The description is used for self-service purposes so that users can understand what system credentials they should specify.
  6. Select the type of credentials the users can register as external credentials.
  7. Under System security, you can specify a username and a password that can be used by applications to access the external system itself if such credentials are needed (a bind user). Only mapped applications can retrieve the credentials for an external system.
  8. If there are unmapped applications in the system, there is an option to add application mappings by clicking Add application mapping. Select which application and which request name the selected application should map to this external system. You can add multiple application mappings.
  9. Save the configuration.
