Setting the Mapper password

When you start Mapper with the Mapping Development perspective, you must specify a password. This password is used to secure connection passwords. If you cancel, or forgot, your password you can still log in but with limited access to connections. When this happens, you must reset your password.

Note: After you reset the Mapper Security password, you must specify all your connection passwords again. This is needed because the passwords must be encrypted using the new password.
  1. Select Window > Preferences.
  2. Double-click Mapper to open the Security Settings dialog.
  3. Read the instructions and click Set New Password to display the Mapper tool security login window.
  4. Specify a new password.

    Confirm your password.

  5. Click OK.
  6. At successful password reset prompt, click OK.
  7. Click OK to exit the Security preference window.

Password encryption and Export/Import connections

The passwords that you set in connection preferences are encrypted. If you export your connection settings to another Mapper, you must specify the passwords again after the import action.
