Database connectivity tasks
Do not set up a database connection to the current mapper server's mapper database.
Do these tasks from the Database Connectivity page.

Edit an existing database connection.
- Select a database connection, then click Edit.
- On the New window, update the field values, then click OK.
- Verify that the new connection is listed under the Configured database locations.

Remove a database connection.
- Select a database connection to disconnect, then click Remove.
- Verify that the removed connection is no longer listed under the Configured database locations.

Set a default connection.

Select a database connection, then click Make Default.
Operations requiring a database connection, for example "Save To Database", will use this as default.
- Verify that the connection is listed as the Default location.

Select a database connection, then click Make Default.

Copy a database connection.
- Select a database connection and click Copy.
- Verify that a new connection with " - Copy" appended to the name is listed under the Configured database locations.

Export or import database.
This option works directly on a mapping database. You can export or import mappings to a database without working through a Mapping project.
Export opens a wizard where you can select a destination folder and the mappings to export.
Import opens a wizard where you can select a source folder with exported mappings.

- Select a database to investigate, then click Facts....

The database facts window displays the retrieved data
about database constraints.
This is used mainly to investigate error messages when saving to database.

Copy to clipboard.
This option copies the values of a connection to the system clipboard.
Use this to paste the information into a mail or similar method when you need to share information.
Note:If Show Passwords As Clear Text is enabled on the Mapper preference page, the connection password is also copied in clear text. Remember to delete the connection password from the email and others, if needed.
If Show Passwords As Clear Text is disabled, the string ****** is copied instead of the connection password.

Test a connection.
This option will only verify the connection to the Database Server instance.
This option does not verify that the denoted database is actually accessible. To some extent, this can be verified through the "Facts" option. A connection error message is displayed if the machine is unavailable or if a wrong ip/host address is defined.
