EC Configuration Page overview
Every grid application has its own configuration page. In EC application, the configuration page allows you to perform basic and advanced application property modifications.
Here are the available links in EC Configuration page:
General Information
The view shows a table information on EC application running on grid.
Application Deployment Status
The view shows a table list of hosts assigned to EC nodes. An OK status is displayed across a node that is started and runs properly. A host is a server machine participating in a grid. A host can be a physical or virtual machine, and can be a member of more than one grid. You can add several instances of hosts that may span multiple server machines. Every host contains a set of nodes. To remove a host from the list, click the red x-mark across the host.
In the table, click the <host> link to open a new page with the EC host folder contents. The indicated values are used every time you work on EC, unless modified by one of the other contexts with higher priority.
Bindings
A binding defines where and how to run nodes of a specific type. Bindings show the association between a node type and a set of hosts.
To start a specific node type on a particular host, you need a binding to associate the node type with the host. The properties that the node need, or the applications running in the node, may be defined for every binding.
EC application is started using one binding for each node type. The minimum, initial, and maximum values are set to 1. It is possible to override a property value based on the binding used to launch EC application. Any EC application instance started with this binding will use this value. To resolve a property, the system will first look for a property override for that binding on its host. A context with higher priority value overrides the binding with lower priority value.
See, M3 Core Administration Guide.
Context Root Mappings
This table shows the available REST service used by the "Server Connectivity" mapper.
Context Root | Module | Type |
---|---|---|
MecRcvServer | MecRcvServer | Rest Service |
MecMapGen | MecMapGen | Rest Service |
Note that MecMapGen node is the only module used for mapper related REST services.
Use these guidelines in using REST services:
-
The REST
testExecute
request is limited to ten connections only. You can configure this setting through the
Rest.TestExecute.MaxSubThreads
property -
The REST access is secured by default (HTTPS).
You can configure this setting through the
Rest.SecureOnly
property. For more information, see the topic on configuring REST properties in this document.
See, Business Document Mapper User Guide.
Node Types
A node is a Java virtual machine (JVM) that is registered as part of a grid where grid application, such as EC, runs. A grid has several nodes that run different applications. Each node runs on one of the hosts that is part of the grid. EC grid nodes run on EC host. There is a corresponding node type for every EC node.
This table shows a list of EC nodes and equivalent node types:
EC Node | Node Type |
---|---|
EC_Process | MECServerNodeType |
EC_MapGen | MapGenNodeType |
EC_Central | CentralFileAccessNodeType |
EC_UI | MECUINodeType |
Edit Properties
The Edit Properties link displays the page to Application Properties:<EC application name><version>(EC Application).
Here are the available links on this page:
-
The Application Defined Properties link contains settings that are specific to EC application.
-
The Grid Defined Properties link contains grid-specific settings.
-
The Add ad hoc Property link allows you to create new ad hoc property.
Expand the view of Application Defined Properties to shows a list of all the EC application properties. These properties are functionally grouped together and each has a corresponding unit, type, property name, and a brief description that you can modify.
The EC property list is grouped by these modification tasks:
-
Properties to access ErrorMail, MapGen Server, API Mapper, MapGen Server Data Bridge.
-
Logs to access log4j.
-
Utilities to access Ad Hoc Properties.
-
Runtime controls to access Runtime, Message ID Controller, Message Persistence, Temporary Data Storage, Message Archive, Error Message Archive, API and MI program.
-
Database properties to access Delete Interval and EC Server Data Source.
-
Document and media settings
Edit Role Mappings
EC application role mapping ensures that the appropriate users have access to the EC grid pages that they need to be able to perform their tasks. As EC administrator you map the roles of EC grid application users to the information and resources that they need.
For EC Security settings, see the security topic in M3 Core Installation Guide.
