Format of bank account numbers
Requirement
Countries and banks have different structures for bank account numbers.
For domestic bank accounts, the BankGiro and PlusGiro numbers can be used for domestic payments.
For international bank accounts, the SWIFT or BIC code and the IBAN number are required.
M3 solution
The formats in this country for domestic and international bank accounts are supported by M3.
General configuration guidelines

BankGiro number |
Numeric, 7 to 8 digits long. Example: 123-4567 Separators and blanks are not inserted in electronic messages. The clearing system number 9900 is used to identify a BankGiro number. |
PlusGiro number |
Numeric, 2 to 8 digits long. Example: 12 3456-7 Separators and blanks are not inserted in electronic messages. The clearing system number 9500 is used to identify a PlusGiro number. |
Domestic bank account number |
Numeric, 11 digits long. Example: 1234 12 3456 1 Normally, separators and blanks are not inserted in electronic messages. |
BBAN (basic bank account number) |
Numeric, 20 digits long. Example: 50000000058398257466 The first three digits are used for the bank identifier. |
IBAN (international bank account number) |
Alphanumeric, 24 characters long. Example: SE4550000000058398257466 The first two characters are used for the country code. The next two digits are used for the check digit. |
