Item management
Requirement
In Russia, every physical item must be managed as a lot-traced stock item.
Items need to be handled separately in case they are both produced and traded. This scenario is applicable if an item is usually traded, but in some cases produced too. The reason is that traded and produced items must be posted to different inventory accounts in the general ledger.
M3 solution
Items used in a Russian division can be set up as lot-traced items. To follow-up the customs declaration number for imported goods on Russian customer invoices, we recommend to activate “Import registration = 1”.
In Russia, at goods receipt, the customs declaration number for imported goods, receipt date, optional exchange rate, supplier document number and date, and additional mandatory information for the Russian documents can be stored.
A lot-number tracing of items for printing the customs declaration number for imported goods on Russian sales invoices is not needed in M3 Business Engine if “Import registration” is activated.
A sale of an item, issued from a warehouse with available import declaration quantity, will consume an import declaration number that must be printed on the customer invoice.
At time of dispatch (picking reporting) the import declaration number is automatically consumed if available for the given item (lot number) per dispatching warehouse.
Several import declaration numbers may be consumed by the same CO delivery line.
For miscellaneous items, create a common item for a group of similar items. Set these items lot-traced. Example: Item "Printer Paper". The exact description per lot can be specified during goods receipt.
For traded and produced items, define one lot number sequence for purchased items, and one sequence for produced items. Set up the inventory accounting rules based on lot number sequences or use other classifications on the item.
