Invoicing
Requirement
In Botswana, invoices must show this information:
- Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN)
- Name, address, and VAT registration number
- Customer’s name and address
- Type of supply
- A description of the supplied goods and services
- Quantity of goods or extent of services
- Rate of VAT
- Rate of any offered cash discount
- Total VAT payable
A VAT tax invoice in Botswana must be issued in Pula (BWP). If an amount is expressed in a currency other than Pula, the following rules apply for converting the VAT and value amounts to local currency:
- For imports, the amount must be converted at the exchange rate determined by the Customs and Excise Duty Act.
- For other supplies, the amount must be converted at the exchange rate when the amount is considered for VAT purposes.
M3 solution
Invoicing is probably the function in M3 that is most affected by localization rules. The requirements for this country are supported by various invoicing features in M3.
