Spotlight component

The Spotlight component provides a quick overview of important values directly in the application.

Spotlight values are displayed in different layouts:
  • Separate tiles: values are shown in individual cards
  • Common card: multiple values are grouped in a single card
  • List: values are displayed in a vertical list

A Spotlight component can display a single value or multiple values, depending on how it is set up. Spotlight items can be configured with additional features such as refresh, conditional styling, and interactive actions.

Use the spotlight component

The Spotlight component helps you view important values directly in the application without navigating to other screens. The values that are available depend on how the application is configured. Values are displayed in the Spotlight component as one value or multiple values, such as counts of records or total sums of field values.

View spotlight values

Each value typically consists of these elements:
  • Value: a numeric value or result that the page shows
  • Title: a short label that describes the value
  • Subtitle (optional): additional context for the value
  • Unit of measure (optional): for example, a currency or a quantity

The Spotlight component configuration determines whether the values are displayed automatically or when another component is used.

The values can be displayed as individual tiles, in a single card, or in a list.

Understand spotlight value with plus sign (+)

When a spotlight value is followed by a plus sign (+), that indicates that the configured record limit is reached. Additional records are available.

For example, if a spotlight item shows 100+, at least 100 records were found. The actual number is higher than the number currently displayed.
Note: The maximum number of records is defined by the application configuration and cannot change at runtime.

Refreshing a spotlight item

Some spotlight items support manual refresh.
  1. Hover the spotlight item to reveal the refresh icon.
  2. Click the refresh icon to reload the value and retrieve the latest data.

Navigate from a spotlight item

A spotlight item can be configured as a navigation shortcut so that users can open another application or an M3 bookmark by clicking the value. Click the spotlight item to open the shortcut.
Note: If no link is configured, clicking the spotlight item has no effect.
