Sales Price Intelligence

When you create, open, or update a customer order line in 'Customer Order. Open' (OIS100), the Sales Price Intelligence helps you evaluate pricing decisions before you apply a discount.

Sales representatives often need to decide whether a requested discount is reasonable and how it will affect profitability. Without guidance, this can require reviewing previous transactions, performing manual calculations, or relying on personal experience. As a result, pricing decisions can vary from one user to another and may reduce profit margins more than intended.

Sales Price Intelligence helps you make these decisions by providing pricing guidance directly in the order-entry process. When you select or update an order line, the widget automatically opens and analyzes information from the current order together with historical transaction data.

For example, a customer might request a larger discount during a price negotiation. Instead of manually calculating the impact on the margin, you can use the guidance provided by the widget. The widget provides an AI-generated net price recommendation derived from historical transaction data and the input parameters configured within the widget. This recommendation enables you to compare the current net price displayed in the M3 application with the AI-recommended net price presented by the widget. Additionally, the widget assists in evaluating the projected margin by comparing it against the minimum margin thresholds defined for the item and its associated facility, supporting more informed pricing decisions.

The widget shows pricing recommendations, margin information, and discount guidance directly in the order-entry screen. You can use this information to evaluate pricing options, understand the impact of a proposed discount, and make more consistent pricing decisions.

Benefits

Sales Price Intelligence helps you:

  • Compare the current net price with an AI-recommended price for similar transactions when you select an order line.
  • Check whether a proposed price or discount will meet margin requirements before you commit your changes.
  • Understand the impact of a one-time supplier rebate when a discount reduces the margin below the required threshold.
  • Apply a recommended discount directly from the widget or use the recommendation when manually updating the order line.
  • Make pricing decisions more quickly without relying on manual calculations.
  • Negotiate with greater confidence by using pricing recommendations based on similar transactions.
  • Apply more consistent pricing practices across business entities such as divisions, facilities, and customer groups.
  • Understand pricing patterns based on customer characteristics, purchasing behavior, region, and discount trends.
  • Reduce decision fatigue for sales and counter sales teams.
  • Help new sales representatives make informed pricing decisions without relying on informal knowledge from experienced colleagues.

Limitations

The accuracy of the recommendations depends on the availability and quality of historical transaction data. You can use the solution to support your pricing decisions, but it doesn't replace existing pricing policies, customer agreements, or approval processes.
