Configuring thousand separators

Use the same process for all supported components. The locations of the tab and the setting depend on the component that you configure.

  1. Open the component configuration.
  2. Go to the tab listed for the component type.
  3. Specify this information:
    Component type Configuration tab Setting location
    Data Grid column Columns Advanced options
    Form, Form dialog, Index list, Details header, or Application header field Fields Advanced options
    Spotlight value Spotlight items Properties tab
    Search field Specific Search or Category Search Advanced options
    Filter field Filter/Select Advanced options
  4. Locate the field, column, or value.
  5. Click Edit.
  6. Open the setting location listed for the component type.
  7. Click the Thousand separators field to switch it ON.
  8. Click Save.

How thousand separator works

When you enable the thousand separator setting for a field, column, or Spotlight value, that value is automatically formatted with separators. The separator character depends on the decimal format (DCFM) set for the user in MNS150.

Editing a field

The system does not apply thousand separators while you edit a field. When you enter a field that already displays a formatted value, the system temporarily removes the thousand separators so you can edit the raw number. When you leave the field, the system formats the value with thousand separators if the setting is enabled for that field. If the setting is not enabled, the value remains unformatted.
Note: Always specify values without the thousand separator.

Drag and drop values

When you drag and drop a value into a field, whether the thousands separator appears depends on whether the thousands separator setting is enabled for that field:

  • Enabled: The thousand separator is temporarily removed while you are in the field. When you leave the field, the separator is reapplied.
  • Not enabled: The thousand separator is removed.
Note: Column header filter fields, search fields, and filter fields do not support thousand separators, so thousand separators are always removed.
