Configuring advanced features and settings for Data Grid

Configure advanced features and settings for the Data Grid. You can adjust Data Grid height, manually or dynamically.

Configuring Data Grid height

The Data grid height setting controls the height of the Data Grid. The value is entered in pixels and determines how much vertical space the data grid uses in the application.

Use this setting to make the grid tall enough to display the expected number of rows without taking up more space than needed.

  1. In the Data Grid Configuration, click the General Settings tab.
  2. Enter a value in pixels in the Data grid height field. The default value is 300 pixels.
  3. Click Save.
    Note: To revert to the default value, click the roundarrow icon to the right of the field.

Configuring Dynamic component height

By default, the Data Grid uses the value in the Data grid height field as a fixed height. The grid does not change height based on the components around it.

When Dynamic component height is enabled, the Data Grid automatically adjusts its height to match the tallest component next to it. The value in the Data Grid height field is used as the minimum height, so the grid does not become smaller than the configured value.

If the neighboring component is taller than the configured Data Grid height, the grid grows to use the available vertical space. If enough records are available, the data area fills the expanded space and displays more rows.

  1. In the Data Grid Configuration, click the General Settings tab.
  2. Switch on the Dynamic component height.
  3. Click Save.

Configuring column width

The column width setting lets you assign a fixed width in pixels to individual columns, so that important fields get the space they need and narrow fields do not take up more room than necessary.

A fixed column width stays the same regardless of how the Data Grid component or the browser window is resized. Columns without a fixed width continue to share the remaining space as before. End users can still resize columns temporarily at runtime, but the width resets to the configured value the next time the application is opened.

You can set the width by entering a pixel value.

Entering a pixel value

  1. In the Data Grid Configuration, click the General Settings tab.
  2. Click the Edit button for the column you have to configure.
  3. Specify a value in pixels in the Column width field.
  4. Click Save.
