Thousand separators

Use thousand separators to make large numeric values easier to read and scan. Enable thousand separators for numeric fields, Data Grid columns, and Spotlight values when users need to easily read or compare amounts, quantities, totals, balances, or other large numbers.

Thousand separator overview

Thousand separators add digit grouping to numeric values, for example, 1,000 or 1.000, making large numbers easier to read. The separator is purely visual and does not change the actual value returned by the data service. A designer enables the thousand separator per field, column, or value when editing the application.

The thousand separator character depends on the selected decimal format (DCFM) for the user in MNS150:

  • If the decimal format is .-Period, the thousand separator is a comma (,).
  • If the decimal format is ,-Comma, the thousand separator is a period (.).

If no decimal format is set in MNS150, the decimal format is checked in this order: MNS100, MNS095, and MNS090.

Thousand separators can be enabled for fields in Form, Form dialog, Application header, Details header, and Index list, for columns in Data Grid, and Spotlight values.
