Configuring additional features and settings for Gantt chart

Configure the additional features for the Gantt chart to further customize settings.

Chart date range

The chart date range controls the visible time span on the timeline grid.

  1. In the Gantt configuration, click the Data mapping tab.
  2. In the Chart date range section, configure the start and finish date fields:
    • Fields are configured: The configured fields determine the start and end of the grid. For example, STDT and FIDT.
    • Fields are left blank: The grid adjust to the task in the data. The configured date range filter the data, but the grid displays only the range covered by the actual tasks.
  3. Click Save.

Resource panel

The resource panel is displayed on the left side of the timeline and consists of a list that usually represents a resource or resource group.

  1. In the Ganntt configuration, click the Data mapping tab.
  2. In the Resource fields section, specify these fields:
    Group ID
    For example, PLGR.
    Group name
    For example, PLNM.
    Resource ID
    For example, COL2.
    Resource name
    For example, COL3.
    Group ID fallback
    For example, COL1.
  3. Specify the Structure fields, which defines the hierarchy levels for the resource panel:
    Level
    For example, LEVEL.
    Level value - Group
    For example, PLGR.
    Level value - Resource
    For example, PLGR_EMNO
    Level value - Task
    For example, OPNO.
    Level value - Date range
    For example, PLGR_EMNO_DTUM.
  4. Click Save.

Blocked time

Blocked time highlights periods when a resource is unavailable. For example, planned absence. If configured, these appear as shaded areas on the timeline.
  • Blocked time data comes from the Time and Accounting module (TMS). Configure TMS before you use blocked time data.
  • For each day in the date range,TMS checks for multiple absence records.
  • Records with a blank From time are discarded.
  • A record that has no To date or To time is an ongoing absence.
  • A record that has a To date but no To time is a full-day absence. The end time defaults to the end of the employee's shift.
  1. In the Gantt configuration, click the Data mapping tab.
  2. In the Working hours section, specify these fields:
    Date
Defines the date. For example, DTUM.
    Start time
Defines the start time for working day. For example, FRTM.
    End time
Defines the end time for working day. For example, TOTM.
    Activity indicator
Identifies Blocked time (unavailable) or Open working time (available) For example, ACTI.
    Employee ID
Identifies an employee. For example, COL2.
    Blocked value
Indicates blocked time (unavailable). For example, 0.
    Working value
Indicates open working time(available). For example, 1.
Note: You need to set up the Time and Accounting module (TMS) for the Blocked time.
  3. Click Save.

Conditional styling

Conditional styling lets the designer configure how Gantt elements appear when defined conditions are met. This makes it easier to highlight important states, priorities, or items that require attention. For example, a task on the timeline can be styled based on the task status.

  1. In the Gantt configuration, click the Data mapping tab.
  2. Click + Add.
  3. In the Target element field, select the timeline element to style. For example, select Task.
  4. Select the field to evaluate and define the condition that must be met.
  5. Click the Style tab and choose the style to apply when the condition is met.
  6. Click Save.
When you view the Gantt component, task bars that match the configured condition use the selected styling on the timeline.
Note: Only the background color and icon can be configured for timeline task styling. The text color and icon color are automatically derived from the background color to ensure sufficient contrast.

Auto-refresh

Auto-refresh allows the Gantt component to periodically reload its data without requiring the user to manually click the refresh button. This is useful in scenarios where near real-time data is needed, such as a Scheduling Board where users need to see the latest changes automatically.

  1. In the Gantt configuration, click the Data mapping tab.
  2. Enable auto-refresh by switching the Auto-refresh on.
  3. Specify the refresh interval in seconds. The minimum value is 1 second.
  4. Click Save.
When you view the Gantt component, task bars that match the configured condition use the selected styling on the timeline.
Note: Auto-refresh only runs when the application is in launch mode, that is, when the app is used by end users. It does not activate in edit mode to avoid unnecessary data loading while designing the application.
    Note:

Auto-refresh increases data traffic and may impact performance, particularly with short intervals or complex Gantt configurations handling large datasets.
