Configuring additional features and settings for Matrix component

Configure the additional features for the Matrix component to further customize settings.

Selecting a matrix cell to update another component

You can select a cell in the Matrix to pass data to another component, such as a Form. When a user selects a cell in the Matrix, the cell has a blue border, and the selected cell values become output parameters. Another component can then use those values as input, for example, to show details for related order lines or SKU information.

  1. Add and configure the component that should receive the selected cell data. For example, a Form.
  2. Configure the receiving component with a data service that uses the relevant matrix output fields as input.
  3. In the receiving component, add an interaction from the Matrix. Select the matrix as the Source component, Select as the event, and Read as the operation.
  4. Click Save.
    Note: 
    • The available output fields depend on the selected matrix type and, in some cases, on the selected matrix tab. Use the Fields tab in the Matrix configuration as a reference for which fields are sent when a cell is selected.
    • Both populated and empty cells can be selected. The relevant option codes are still sent for empty cells, which allows another component to use the selected style, color, size, or other combination even when no item number exists for that cell.

Using totals column

The Matrix includes a total column that shows the sum of all values in each row.

  1. In the Matrix configuration, click the Properties tab.
  2. In the Totals dropdown, select an option:
    Hidden
    No total column is shown which is the default.
    First
    Total column is displayed before size columns.
    Last
    Total column is displayed after size columns.
  3. Click Save.
    Note: This is a configuration option and cannot be changed at runtime.

Using axis labels

You can customize axis labels to show the option code next to the description for each X,Y, or Z dimension.

This is an example of the option code:
  • Without option code: "Black"
  • With option code: "Black (YY01)"
  1. In the Matrix configuration, click the Properties tab.
  2. In the Axis labels section, turn on the option to show the dimension option code.
  3. Click Save.
    Note: 
    • This is a configuration option and cannot be changed at runtime.
    • On the X axis (sizes), enabling Include code may have no visible effect. The matrix already uses option codes in column headers to keep them compact. If a size code is numeric (for example, 8, 10, or 12) and the short label is identical or unavailable, adding the code would be redundant (for example, “8 (8)”). The option becomes meaningful when the short label is descriptive, such as “Small (S)” or “Medium (M)”.

Using header fields

It’s possible to display header fields to show context information like the style number, name, description, and warehouse. These are shown between the component heading and the matrix grid.

  1. In the Matrix configuration, click the Fields tab.
  2. Select the Show in header check box to show the field in the header area when you view the Matrix.
    Note: 
    • You cannot change this option at runtime. Only available when configuring a matrix.
    • Fields are always available as output parameters for downstream components, regardless of the Show in header setting.

Using the toolbar actions

The Matrix toolbar includes these actions by default. These actions are available to users at runtime and require no additional configuration.
  • Flip axes: Swaps rows and columns. For example, sizes become rows and colors become columns. Disabled when grouping columns are shown.
  • Show or Hide empty rows: Switches the visibility of rows where no SKU exists.
  • Show or Hide empty column: Switches the visibility of columns where no SKU exists.
  • Aggregate: Shows totals per row category instead of individual sizes. For order types, this sums quantities across all grouping variations, such as warehouses and delivery dates, per color.

Removing a toolbar action

You have an option to remove the toolbar action.

  1. In the Matrix configuration, click the Toolbar tab.
  2. Select a toolbar button and click Delete.
  3. Click Save.
    Note: 

    To add the toolbar actions again, select + Add, and then select Standard button in the Toolbar configuration.
