M3 Information Monitor

Use this widget to collect and show information monitors as a list or as tiles. The tile view shows metrics in a clear, visual layout to improve visibility and make key information easier to read at a glance.
Also, you can right-click a specific monitor and perform any of these actions:
  • Open the M3 bookmark that is configured in the monitor by selecting Open.
  • View the details of the records that are counted by the monitor by selecting Drilldown.
  • Modify the data retrieved by the monitor by selecting Edit.
  • Create a duplicate of a specific monitor together with the configurations made with it by selecting Copy.
  • Remove an existing monitor from the widget by selecting Delete.
  • From a specific record in the drilldown view, you can also perform these actions:
    • Open the M3 bookmark that is configured in the Output Parameters window by selecting Open.
    • Copy the bookmark link of the record by selecting Copy to Clipboard.

Supported languages

The widget interface, labels, and configuration options are displayed in the user's preferred language. If the preferred language is not supported, the widget is displayed in English (en-US).

Task Description
Configuring the widget Use this procedure to configure the M3 Information Monitor widget. You can define information, such as monitor settings, API transaction, display format, primary action, bookmark options, and output fields.
Using translations in the M3 Information Monitor widget Use this procedure to translate monitor names. The translated names are displayed when users select the corresponding language in the workspace user settings.
Configuring a bookmark Use this procedure to configure a bookmark that opens a specific M3 program, record, or query from the monitor. You can define the bookmark by using a URL or bookmark fields with static values or context variables.
Supported macros for the input field Use this information to be familiar with the dynamic way of populating input values using entity, location, date, or user context information, reducing manual input. This is helpful in the Value field when specifying API information.
Enabling bookmark in a record Use this procedure to enable users to open related M3 records directly from widget results for faster navigation. You can apply this action when you identify the output fields for the widget.
Configuring a graph Use this procedure when you set the Display content as field and select the graph option. This helps define how data is presented in a graphical format, including chart settings, grouping options, and drilldown behavior for deeper analysis.
Adding an API action Use this procedure to configure an API to create additional action for a specific record.
Using the Copy Monitor functionality Use this procedure to copy an existing monitor and reuse its configuration.

Configuring the widget

Use this procedure to configure the widget and define information, such as monitor settings, API transaction, display format, primary action, bookmark options, and output fields.
  1. Click Configure Widget.
  2. Specify this information:
    Title
    Click the unlock button and specify a widget title.
    Automatic Refresh Rate
    Select a refresh rate interval from the drop-down field.
    Display
    Select either Default to apply the grid view or Tiles to apply the tiles view for all records. The monitor can display a maximum of one hundred tiles, divided by page navigators. When the maximum display is reached, +Add Monitor is disabled.
  3. Click Add Monitor to add the monitor for configuration. Specify this information:
    Monitor Name
    Specify the monitor name.
    Translations
    Click this option to translate the monitor name into a different language.

    Severity Indication
    Enable this setting to display the configured indicators for the number of records.

    If enabled, click Configure. In the Configure Severity Indication window, use the slider to apply a color and set a numerical range for the input to indicate the level of severity.

    Primary action
    Select the action to perform when a monitor is clicked:
    • Open: Performs a drillback to M3 using the configuration details. For example, clicking a monitor directs you to 'Item. Open' (MMS001/B).
    • Drilldown: Performs a drilldown to the specific data retrieved from M3. When you click a monitor which shows fifteen customers for example, the list of customers with their respective information get displayed in grid view.
    • No Action: Disables drillback and drilldown. Clicking a monitor does not trigger any action.
    Max record count
    Specify the number of records to be displayed for the specific monitor. If the record count exceeds the max record count, a plus sign is added as an indicator.
    Bookmark Options
    Click Configure Bookmark to use a saved bookmark or create a new bookmark manually.

    Context Message for M3 Monitor Drilldown

    Specify the context message for the monitor, such as InforDeliveryOptions.

    You must select a tile before the context message is sent to the Information Monitor Drilldown. The feature enables the M3 Information Monitor to send a context message to another widget. The M3 Monitor Drilldown widget receives the message and shows the configurable content.

    Note: This field is valid only when you select Tiles as the widget display and switch on the Connect to M3 Monitor Drilldown setting.
  4. Specify this M3 API information:
    Program
    Click the look-up button in this required field. Search for an M3 program, for example CRS610, and provide a description to filter the results. Click a record from the programs list and click Select.
    Transaction
    Click the look-up button in this required field. Search for a transaction, for example SearchCustomer, and provide a description to filter the results. Click a record from the transactions list and click Select.
    Input
    Click the look-up button.
    On the data grid, you can perform these tasks:
    • Select Input to identify the input fields to be submitted to the API transaction.
    • Select User input to enable a user to override the input value from the widget actions on the widget menu.
    • Optionally, specify an entity type if you require the widget to retrieve business context messages, for example, InforCustomerPartyMaster. And then specify an input in the Value field that uses the entity type enclosed in a bracket. This example shows the format: {InforCustomerPartyMaster}. The same input is reflected in the Id1 context message which you can use as an input field to run the MI request.
      Note: Other supported macros are used in the Value field.

    Output
    Click the look-up button in this required field.
    On the data grid, you can perform these tasks:
    • Select Output to identify the output fields to be submitted to the API transaction.
    • Specify a value under the View Order column to specify the order of the output fields for display, for example CUNO;CUNM;STAT;CUCL.
    • Select User input to enable a user to override the input value from the widget actions on the widget menu.
    • Change the display labels of columns through the Modify Description functionality. You can also specify a translation for the new label. For the translated label to reflect, you must set the equivalent language in the user settings of Infor OS.
    • Select a maximum record count.
    • Select the Standard bookmark variant for your output fields with key strings (KSTR):
      • If Modify Standard Configuration is enabled, you can specify an option, start panel, and focus field for your bookmark.
      • To use the default key string for the record, disable Modify Standard Configuration.
    • Select the Configurable bookmark variant to enable a bookmark for a specific record.

    Display content as
    Select a display type from the list. If you select graph, additional fields should be configured.

  5. Optionally, add an action item for the records in the configured monitor.

    See Adding an API action in this document.

  6. Click OK.

Using translations in the M3 Information Monitor widget

Use this procedure to add translations that converts the monitor names to your preferred language.
Note: You can only view the change when you set the equivalent language from the user menu of workspaces.
  1. On the Add Monitor dialog, click Translations.
  2. On the Translations screen, click Add translation.
  3. On the Add Translation dialog, specify this information:
    Language
    Use the list to select your preferred language.
    Translation Name
    Specify the name to translate.
  4. Click Add.
  5. Optionally, click Add Translation on the Translations dialog to add more languages.
  6. Click OK.
  7. On the Add Monitor dialog, click OK to exit.

Configuring a bookmark

Use this procedure to create a bookmark for the widget.
  1. From the Edit Monitor dialog, click Configure Bookmark.
  2. Enable the Use Bookmark URL to copy a raw bookmark from M3 or optionally create a URL that is updated manually with context variables.

    Example: To copy a bookmark URL, start with 'Customer. Open' (CRS610). From the program, right-click a customer and select Change. From the E panel, right-click any blank space and select Bookmarks > Copy to Clipboard.

    Some bookmark elements are dynamic. In the URL example, you can replace the customer number, that is ADAMCUST, with <CUNO> or {CUNO}. We recommend that you update the URL on a notepad to identify dynamic elements. You can paste the updated URL to this field:

  3. When the Use Bookmark URL is disabled, configure a bookmark from scratch. Specify this information:
    Program
    Specify a program ID, for example, CRS610 or click Get to retrieve a parameter for the program.
    Table
    Specify a table, for example, OCUSMA or click Get to retrieve a parameter for the table.
    Sort Order
    Specify a sort order value, for example, 1.
    View
    Specify a view value, for example, STD01-01.
    Query

    Specify a bookmark query value, for example, use CONO:880 to view a customer number with the value of 880.

    You can also add an entity in bookmark queries to support context value using this format: <Field name>:{<context message>} or <Field name>:{<context message>}.id<number>. For example, use CUNO:{InforCustomerPartyMaster} to view all existing customer numbers.

  4. Click OK.

Supported macros for the input field

  • Infor entities macros

    The macros for entities uses this format: {<infor_provided_entity_name>}. For example, {InforCustomerPartyMaster}. Take note that the user should also add the same entity name on the entity type column when configuring the input parameter.

  • Location macros

    The macros for location uses this format: {<coordinate>, [<no_of_decimals>]} where the value inside the square brackets [] are optional.

    The types of location macros include:
    • {longitude}
    • {latitude}
    • {latitude, 3} where 3 is optional in this example
  • Date macros

    The date macros uses this format: DATE(<integer>), where the value of integer calculates the time frame from the current date. For example:

    • DATE(-30): calculates date of 30 days behind from the current date
    • DATE(0): current date
    • DATE(+30): calculates date of 30 days ahead from the current date
  • User context macros
    The macros for user context uses this format: {<user context fields>}.
    Note: The user context fields are retrieved from the current user records from (MNS150).

    This list contains the supported user context macros:

    • {CHNO} - change number for project ID
    • {CONM} - user's division name
    • {CONO} - user's company
    • {CSYS} - connected system
    • {CUNO} - customer
    • {DCFM} - user's decimal format
    • {DEPT} - user's department

Enabling bookmark in a record

Use this procedure to bookmark a user's record in M3. To access the bookmark, right-click a record where you configured the bookmark, then select Open.

Note: This option is only enabled if the selected output fields meet these requirements:
  • Key string (KSTR) fields
  • Combination of table fields and program fields:
    • Program field should either be YPGM or PGNM.
    • Table name should either be YFIL or FILE.
  1. Switch Enable bookmarks to enable additional bookmark options for the configuration.
  2. Specify this information:
    Program
    Specify an M3 program, for example MMS001. Click Get beside the field to get accurate bookmark parameters for the program.
    Table
    Specify an M3 Table, for example OCUSMA. Click Get to get accurate bookmark parameters for the table.
    Sort Order
    Specify an M3 sort order value, for example 1.
    View
    Specify an M3 view value, for example STD01-01.
    Query
    Specify a bookmark query value enclosed within curly brackets, for example ITNO:{ITNO}.
  3. Click Advanced.
  4. Specify this information:
    Key Name - Value
    Specify a key name for the bookmark. Click the plus icon to add more fields for this option.
    Parameter Name - Value
    Specify a parameter name for the bookmark. Click the plus icon to add more fields for this option.
    Filter Field Name - Value
    Specify a filter field name for the bookmark. Click the plus icon to add more fields for this option.

    Click OK.

  5. Click OK in the Input/Output Parameters dialog.

Configuring a graph

  1. In Display content as, select graph as your display type.
  2. Click Configure.
  3. In the graph view settings, specify this information:
    Chart type
    Select a chart type from the list.
    Note: If you select the Stacked Bar and Stacked Column options, the Stack Column drop-down becomes available.
    Label Column
    Select a label column from the list. The values are taken from the fields selected in the MI Output Configuration above, step 4.
    Stack Column
    Select the category that defines several subgroups that are present and compared in all columns.
    Rotate label
    Switch this option to rotate the labels to a readable angle.
    Note: This option is only available to column, line, and area chart types.
    Display Y-Axis label
    Switch this option to show the label specified on the Y-Axis Label field.
    Note: This option is only available to column, line, and area chart types.
    Y-Axis Label
    Specify a label to be displayed vertically on the graph.
    Note: This option is only available to column, line, and area chart types. The label can also be translated into multiple languages.
    Translations
    Click this option to configure the language of the Y-Axis label.
    Note: For the translated label to reflect, you must set the equivalent language in the user settings of Infor OS. See details about changing the site default language in Infor OS Portal User Guide.
    1. Click Add Translation.
    2. Specify this information:
      Language
      Select your preferred translation for the label.
      Y-Axis Label
      Specify the translation to be reflected on the graph.
    3. Click Add.
    4. On the Translation dialog box, click OK.
    Value Column(s)
    Select the value column from the list. The values are taken from the fields selected in the MI Output Configuration above, step 4.
    Group by label column
    If enabled, data is aggregated by value type.
    Group by type
    Select between count or by sum.
    Enable debit/credit conversion
    Switch this option to specify values for the Debit sign or Credit sign fields.
    Configure Drilldown
    Click this option to configure the drilldown of data to be displayed in the graph.
  4. To configure a drilldown, specify this information:
    Program
    Click the look-up button. Search for M3 programs, for example CRS610, or provide a description to filter the results. Click a record from the programs list and click Select.
    Transaction
    Click the look-up button. Search for a transaction, for example SearchCustomer, or provide a description to filter the results. Click a record from the transactions list and click Select.
    Input
    Click the look-up button. On the data grid, you can perform these tasks:
    • Select Input to identify the input fields to be submitted to the API transaction.
    • Specify the input field's value in the Value column, for example specify BLCD:[0 TO 8]; for SQRY.
    Output
    Click the look-up button. On the data grid, you can perform these tasks:
    • Select Output to identify the output fields to be submitted to the API transaction.
    • Specify a value under the View Order column to specify the order of the output fields for display, for example CUNO;CUNM;STAT;CUCL.
    • Select a maximum record count.
    • Optionally, enable a bookmark. If selected, you can configure additional fields.
    Map drill parameters
    Retrieves data from output field after clicking a data from the graph. Although, you can use this to see the available fields and values for your mapping in the output field.
    Display content as
    Select a format for the data that is displayed after performing a drilldown.
  5. Click OK.

Adding an API action

Use this procedure to configure an API to create additional action for a specific record. The configured action can be accessed through a context menu when you right-click a record.

Note: Performing an action only provides a successful or failed result.
  1. When configuring the widget, click + Add Action.
  2. Specify this information:
    Action Name
    Specify a name for the action to be used for the API.
    Program
    Click the look-up button and select a program.
    Transaction
    Click the look-up button and select from the available transaction methods.
    Input
    Click the look-up button.
    On the data grid, you can perform these tasks:
    • Select the check boxes in the Input column to select the Input Fields to be submitted for the MI Transaction.
    • Change the input fields' value in the Value column. For example, updating a supplier status to deactivated, STAT: 90 (CRS620MI/ChgBasicData).
  3. Click OK.

Using the Copy Monitor functionality

Use this functionality to copy an existing monitor without doing a configuration of the widget manually.

  1. Right-click a group of records from the monitor list and click Copy. Specify a name for the new monitor.
  2. Optionally, update some configurations that are copied from the original monitor. For example, change the input parameters by clicking the lookup button, updating the value column manually, and clicking Save.
  3. From the Copy Monitor dialog, click Save.

    All configurations from the source monitor are copied to the new monitor unless you changed some parameters.
