Project Executive Summary

1. Open a text editor.
2. Copy and paste this XML content into the text editor:

3. Save the file, then specify IDMConfiguration_ProjectExecutiveSummary.xml as its file name.

1. Open Microsoft Word.
2. Select a blank document.
3. Specify <Text> in the document. Optionally, you can add a header image in the template.
4. Save the Word document, then specify ProjectExecutiveSummary_Dynamic_Template.docx in its file name.

1. Add a new document, then select Project Executive Summary in the Document Type field.

   See the information on adding a document in the Infor OS User and Administration Library and select User > Document Management > Working with IDM > Working with a document > Adding a document.

2. Upload the ProjectExecutiveSummary_Dynamic_Template.docx Word file into the new document.

   See Creating the Project Executive Summary template file in this document.

3. On the Properties tab, select Enable template, and specify this information:

   Template Name

   Specify Project_Executive_Summary_Template.

   Template Details

   Specify Project_Executive_Summary.

   See the information on creating a template in the Infor OS User and Administration Library and select Administrator > Document Management > Infor Document Management Client Interface > Infor Document Management Client Features > Manage Documents > Creating a template.

4. On the Attributes tab, specify 0 in the Project Number field.
5. Click Save.

The cache setting is used to determine if the summary is expired. Expired indicates that the generated summary date is older than the date computed based on the configuration settings. For example, if the configuration is set for one week, a generated summary that is more than one week old is considered expired.

1. Click the menu icon on the widget title bar and select Configure....
2. Specify this information:

   Title

   Click the unlock button and specify a widget title.

   Summary expiration value (if selected below)

   Specify a quantity that matches with the expiration unit of the issue. For example, specify 3.

   Summary cache expiration unit

   Select an expiration unit to match with the expiration value. If you specify 3 in the summary expiration value and select days in the expiration unit, compute 3 days from the current date to know the validity of the summary.

3. Click Save.

Generating an executive summary is most significant for this widget to fulfill its main purpose. This procedure is applicable when you have an empty summary on the widget.

1. In M3, click a project from 'Project. Open' (POS100).

   If used in a workspace, click a project from the M3 Search and List widget.

2. On the widget, click Summarize project <project number> where <project number> is a unique ID for the project provided manually by the project manager or a series patterned after the project order type. The summary request might take a while to load the content.
3. Optionally, modify the summary from the widget body.
4. Click Save.
   Apart from what is saved on the widget, the summary is also saved to the project’s text block in M3 and on Infor Document Management (IDM).

   Note: When you use the Related Information widget alongside the Project Executive Summary widget, you can check that it generates a document that contains the similar summary saved on IDM.

Use this procedure to verify if the declared budget and expenses for every activity are accurate on the summary. This helps the project manager check which activities have enough budget or excessive expenditures.

1. Right-click an existing project from 'Project. Open' (POS100/B) with status 20 or higher and select Related > Budget.
2. In 'Project Budget. Open' (POS110/B1), right-click a budget and select Related > Lines.
3. Compare the summary side-by-side with the declared budget for its project activities. You may modify the generated text as necessary.

1. Right-click an existing project from ‘Project. Open’ (POS100) and select Related > Consists-of. The related option opens the list of available activities for the project.

   If used in a workspace, click a project from the M3 Search and List widget.

2. Select the project or any activity from the list. After you select from the list, you can view the summary from the in-context widget.
3. On the Project Executive Summary widget, click Refresh summary for <project number> where <project number> is a unique ID for the project provided manually by the project manager or a series patterned after the project order type.
