Importing users from a file

You can import users from a comma-separated or tab-separated file.

The import file should contain at least the login name of the user. The first names and last names are optional, but it is recommended that you include them as well.

If not stated, the password and the language is set into default values. The default password is kalle and the language defaults to the base system language.

The order of the fields in the import file is not important.

Note:  When you create an import file using Microsoft Excel and save it as CSV, ensure that the CSV file has no extra empty line. To check the content of the CSV file, open the CSV file using a text editor.
  1. Select User maintenance > Import users.
  2. Select the field delimiter type of the import file.
  3. Select Fields enclosed in quotes if the field names are enclosed in quotes.
  4. Select Has headers if your file contains a header.
  5. Click Browse and locate the import file.
  6. Map the User fields with the Import file columns. First, select a field in the User fields table, then select a field in the Import file columns table. To set the mapping, click the right arrow.
  7. Click Load file. The contents of the import file are loaded and shown in the Import file rows table.
  8. Select a row in the Import file rows table and click Import.
To select multiple adjacent rows, press Shift then click the rows. To select multiple non-adjacent rows, press CTRL then click on the rows.
