Update process

This appendix contains information for updating M3 Analytics content in your active tenant.

Caution:

Before you proceed with any content update, ensure that space back-up procedures were performed. If any issue occurs during a content update, you can use the back-up copy to restore a space back to its original state. For Orchestrations, modifications should only be performed on clones of the SMD orchestrations. For instructions on duplicating a space in Birst, see the Birst Online Help.

During M3 Analytics release, SMD application workflows are delivered as part of the SMD Application. These application workflows contain necessary steps to transfer updates from SMD Content Application to Active Content Application. The Birst System Administrator can optionally run these application workflows to get the latest version to their Active Content Application. See Birst Online Help for more information about Application Workflows.

There are two types of M3 Analytics SMD Application Workflows delivered:

SMD M3A Update to Latest Version - Update Model Spaces: This workflow contains all the necessary steps to copy space groups (ACL), connections and repository for staging, conformed dimension and model spaces.

SMD M3A Update to Latest Version - Update Consumer Space: This workflow contains all the necessary steps to copy space groups (ACL), custom subject areas, drill maps, data driven dashboards and saved expressions.

Infor does not update the active content application. All updates that Infor M3 Analytics releases are applied to SMD Application. See KB3571642 for a detailed instruction on using the SMD application workflows in upgrading M3 Analytics Active content application.
