General Ledger

The purpose of this model is to simplify the periodic reconciliation of your general ledger control accounts. This model is used to support the analytical process by validating the data extracted from various M3 applications. Through the validation process, you can rely on the information provided by the various M3 Analytical Models.

The validation is done by reconciling with the business accounting data stored in the General Ledger. The data stored in this file is used to deliver the Financial Reports of the business and it is also subject to external audit as required by law. For example, periodic sales revenue information provided in the Profitability model should be reconciled with the periodic sales revenue figures accounted for in the general ledger.

The delivered solution includes one General Ledger model that is accessible through Birst Visualizer as well as the corresponding SQL-based star schema.

The facts in this model can be analyzed by the accounting date and transaction date.

Source information

This model is based on the general ledger detail file in M3 BE - FGLEDG. The Time Dimension is based on the Accounting Date.

Note: M3 Division is included as a filtering dimension in this GL Model because it is expected that M3 Division will be used for GL reconciliations performed at the local division level. The model aggregates values across division, but the reported amounts may not be in the same local currency.
