Enabling the Policy Manual task

You can use the Policy Manual task to put your employee handbook on the web. This saves paper and time distributing manuals, and makes it easier for all employees to review the current manual from any location.

Complete these steps to make the policy manual available in Employee and Manager Self-Service.

  1. Create the policy book as an HTML document and name it policybook_<language>.htm where language is the user's language in lowercase. The system converts any embedded spaces in language to underscores in the file name.

Users who are assigned to the default locale or not assigned to a locale will not have a language. For those users, the name should be policybook.htm.

  2. If you are using a UNIX environment, then copy the document to: $WEBDIR/lawson/xhrnet/xml/manuals.

If you are using a Windows 2000 environment, then copy the document to: %WEBDIR%\lawson\xhrnet\xml\manuals.

The template file path is: WEBDIR/lawson/xhrnet/xml/manuals.

  3. Access Employee Self-Service > Policy Manual .

If you created a policy book that matches the user's language, then the policy book is displayed.

If you did not create a policy book that matches the user's language, then the message Insert your policy manual here is displayed. This text is associated with the standard template that is copied to your system during installation.

For UNIX, this is the template file path: $WEBDIR/lawson/xhrnet/xml/manuals/policybook_template.htm.

For Windows 2000, this is the template file path: %WEBDIR%\lawson\xhrnet\xml\manuals\policybook_template.htm.

The template file path is: WEBDIR/lawson/xhrnet/xml/manuals/policybook_template.htm.
