Starting and stopping the EDI translation server to run a job

You can manually start and stop the EDI translation server to translate a job that has been created.

If at any time changes are made to the EDI configuration parameters on EDI Configuration Maintenance (ED00.1), it is necessary to stop the EDI translation server and then start it again for those changes to take effect.

Start and stop the EDI translation server

  1. Access Start or Stop Translation Eng (ED330).
  2. Specify or select this information:
    Job Name

    A name of your choice.

    Process Type

    START

The job will check to see whether the EDI translation server is already running, and if so, will not attempt to start it again. If the EDI translation server is not already running, the job will attempt to start it.

The job will go into recovery (that is, the job is given the name Needs Recovery and placed into a queue called Waiting) only if the EDI translation server was not running and the job was unable to start it.

    STOP

The job will check to see whether the EDI translation server is running, and if so, send it a kill signal.

The EDI translation server will receive the kill signal, finish any processing that can be in progress, and then stop.

  3. Add the newly created job.
