Deleting work orders
In Production Order, there are two ways to delete work orders. You can delete work orders using Work Order (WO30.1), or delete work orders and make them available for rescheduling using Delete for Rescheduling (WO21.1). The effects of each are different.
Form used | Effect |
---|---|
Work Order (WO30.1) |
The work order will not be rescheduled after it is deleted. Running Production Schedule (WO20.1) or Batch Work Order Creation (WO120) will not reschedule production. Use the Delete action on WO30 if you need to delete the work order and want to manually create a new work order for the original demand. |
Delete for Rescheduling (WO21.1) |
The work order is available for rescheduling after it is deleted. You can view all the document demand to be rescheduled using Source Document Inquiry (WO83.1) and then run WO20 or WO120 to reschedule production. On WO21, this information displays:
Note: Viewing all document demand beforehand
is particularly useful if more than one work order is tied to the
source document (customer order, internal requisition, or work order).

With either method of deletion, the status of the work order changes to Cancelled when company setup uses automatic numbering and the work order status is greater than In Production. For information on statuses, see Different work order statuses.
