Defining item groups

Before you can define an Inventory Control company, you must define an item group. An item group identifies a specific group of inventory items for a company. If multiple companies share the same inventory items, you need to set up the items only once, then assign the same item group to all companies. You can only assign one item group to each company; however, multiple companies can share an item group. This procedure explains how to define an item group.

Define item groups

  1. Access Corporate Item Group (IC00.1).
  2. Define header information. Specify this information:
    Automatic Item Numbering

Select Yes to automatically number items. Select No to manually enter an item number (default).

    Last Item Number

    Type the last item number.

Note: You can also load unit of measure information from an external source.
  3. Type units of measure.
  4. Select the Add form action.
  5. If you want comments to automatically print on documents, define comment types.
    1. Access Item Comment Types (IC00.2).
    2. Add comment types to item groups that you already defined.
    3. Select the Add form action.
